Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta has ask Bwatiye to prioritise, love, peace and oneness in order to foster unity for the ‘Pene Da Bwatiye’ world wide
Speaking during the closing ceremony at Bwatiye 2025 International Cultural Festival and Development Foundation Fund Raising, held at Mahmud Ribadu Square Saturday, Farauta asked her kinsmen to role model the younger ones for prosperity.
She stressed that, the group can’t live in isolation of other tribes, hence the need to live in peace with neighbours.
“As neighbours with other tribes, you should learn to live in peace and for progress.
‘The Bwatiye slogan of oness should be always show on us as people.
“We are elders of the land, we need to role model the younger ones.
The deputy governor, called on the youths to embrace education and pursue careers in various fields of endeavour with determination and focus.
She equally raised concerns over teenage pregnancy and its negative consequences, adding it should not serve as
educational disruptions, and limited future opportunities.
“The teenager, and her child can equally go back to school
and access education and get jobs as alternatives to child pregnancy.”.
In his remarks at the occasion,
former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara advocated for religious tolerance between Muslims and Christians to move the country forward.
Yakubu said who so ever made progress in Nigeria is because of unity and that where he stand.
“It doesn’t matter the dialect you speak, or the faith you ascribed, but the common thing that unite us is humanity”.
He expressed happiness with the diversity of Bwatiye people spreaded to Cameroon, Gabon, Congo and Central Africa, urging them to leverage on service to humanity as ralling point.
Earlier, Senator Grace Folashade Bent the ( Impatu Batta) lauded the state Deputy Governor for supporting the programme.
The former lawmaker noted “Our culture is our pride,
Bwatiye are born worries and leaders, the organisation would be a reference point for other to emulate she explained.
The Guest Speaker, Dr Suleiman Bagirei from University of Lapai Niger state in his paper the challenges Affecting Bwatiye People asserted the need for Bwatiye to take good teaching of Islam, christianity and amalgamate it with culture for progress.
Bagirei observed that bitter rivalry between christian and muslims could easily be addressed through unity, love and diversity of people to move the country forward.
He appreciated the present administration under the leadership of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri for bringing onboard traditional council laws which gave birth chiefdoms with rulership rooted to their culture.##
