Adamawa Dep Gov Flaff-Off Distribution Of Relief Intervention To 4000 Flood Affected Households

Adamawa state Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapha Farauta, who flagg-off the distribution of relief materials to 4000 households affected by the recent flood in the state

The relief materials donated by the Adamawa government, Nigeria’s first lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, North East Development Commission (NEDC) and National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Senator Representing Adamawa Central, Aminu Iya Abbas, is simultaneously distributed to beneficiaries at Digital Centre, Ahmadu Ribadu, Lamido Zubairu and Aliyu Mustapha College in Yola-South local government area.

She cautioned beneficiaries against sales of the assorted materials

Farauta noted that government would deployed monitoring team to ensure no items sold or seen in any shops across the state.

She added” The items are meant for families use to cushion the effects of the devastating effects.

“Government would not fine it easy with any person selling the relief items

She asked the beneficiaries to take advantage of the rainy season and plant crops to support their livelihood.

The deputy governor, reiterated government commitments to improving the plight of the people of the state.

Earlier, the government , through the State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA) has stepped up its response to flood victims by door-to-door distribution of relief collection tickets in the affected flood areas Shagari, Yolde Pate, Modire, and surrounding communities.

The tickets was to enable verified victims to access food items, bedding, clothing, and other essentials provided by the government as part of its ongoing humanitarian support.

About 29 people in total had died as a result of the flood.

Items distributed includes bags of of rice, bags of maize, cartoons of spaghetti, cartoons of seasoning cubes,, cartoons of tomato paste, kegs of vegetables oil and bags of iodized salt

Other non food items shared were pieces of plastic cups, pieces of plastic spoon, pieces of children wears, pieces of nylon mats, pieces of blanket and pieces of mattress among otherss

Zadi Isrifanus, one of the beneficiaries thank government for the support.
