Adamawa state Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta has declared open a three day ‘Rigata’ festival celebrated by the ‘Pene Da Bwatiye’ world wide to
showcase rich cultural heritage and bravery of the Bachama people
Farauta spoke at the bank of river Benue venue for the event of the need for the Bachama people to norture norms and values for sustainability of cultural heritage for the younger generation.
” I welcome my brothers and sisters the Bwatiye race to this festival.
” We thank God for giving us another opportunity to celebrate this festival and to reunite after many years.
“The festival is to showcase a race of worriers, I called on us to leave good legacy for the younger generation to emulate”.
She described the event as a celebration of warriors, strong cultural identity and contributions of Bwatiye sons and daughters in nation- building, urging them to resist divisive tendencies.
The Rigata 2025 cultural festival involves display of cultural dances, skills on hunting hippopotamus, boat race, catching fish with bare hands and underwater endurance among others,
The competitors were selected from villages across Basapwa, Voti, and Njiya.
The chairman of the organising committee, Professor Ambrose Alikidon Voh stressed that the event is planned to revive the culture of Bachama.
Delegates from Cameroon, Central Africa and Gabon are expected to attend the event.
