Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, has cautioned youths against misuse of social media platforms.
Speaking at the annual convention and centenary celebration of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria LCCN held at the covenant ground Demsa, Farauta described as unfortunate and saddening the manner in which youths use social media platforms without remorse.
According to him, social media platforms are meant to accelerate development, now that the world has been reduced to a global village.
She noted that such abuses and unguarded comments could cause disunity and misunderstanding among people, adding that all religions emphasize morality and abhorre indiscipline.
“Let me caution youths against unnecessary posting on social media. All your posting on social media is being monitored and you may not know. Make sure you are ready to explain and defend all your posting at all time,” she warned
The 100 year anniversary of the church With the 2025 theme, ‘You are the light of the world,’ the convention brought together LCCN family and other denominations across Adamawa, Nigeria, and the world.
The deputy governor tasked the faithful to be change agent, thanking them for their prayers for leaders, the state, and the country in general.
In his address, the Archbishop of LCCN, Musa Panti Filibus advocated renewed commitment to strengthening theological education and leadership formation as part of the church fulfilment of its mandate to equip leaders to serve with wisdom and integrity, especially now that religion is often misused to fuel violence, hatred and for personal gains.
The Cleric stressed that the 100th year gathering is a living testimony of God’s faithfulness, advising the faithful to reflect towards a future defined by deeper faith, stronger mission and greater unity.
The clergyman saluted the courage, resilience, commitment, and faith of those who laid the church’s foundation, which, according to him, has paved the way for believers and generations.
Bishop Filibus also highlighted the progress recorded by the church thus far and the challenges, even as he sued for prayers for transformation in the political and social systems, end to corruption and restoration of peace in the country.
The peak of the event was cutting of the anniversary cake led by the Deputy Governor.
