Adamawa Dep Gov Assures AIDS Survivors of Sustained Treatment

Adamawa Dep Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta has assured survivors of HIV/AIDS of sustained treatment and services, following withdrawal of funding by international donor agencies.

Speaking when she received Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS in her office Thursday, Farauta insisted that no survivor would be off drug because of stoppage of international founding.

Farauta reiterated government’s continued funding of health sector to improve health service delivery, while urging people to avail themselves for test to know their status.

“The fear of survivor of HIV/AIDS would be off drugs, government would not allow it to happen,” she said, adding that the administration is a health friendly government and will continue to fund health facilities and projects despite competing demands on government’s lean resources for a healthy and productive society.

Earlier, State Coordinator of the group, Mr Dishon Pwaboyedi, lamented that their health status may worsen unless government took over funding of retroviral drugs and treatment with immediate effect.

He made case for the domestication of anti stigma law 2014 to ensure protection against their members.

“We don’t want our health to get worse following withdrawal of international funding,” he added.
