The Board Chairman Audit service Commission, Mr James Thilza has charged auditors in Adamawa state to maintain professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
Thilza urged the auditors to ensure accountability in their financial dealings.
The Chairman made the charge during a meeting with members of the commission as well as staff of both state and local Government Audit at their various headquarters in Yola.
The Board chairman noted that the establishment of the Audit commission will go a long way in checkmating accounting officers to follow due processes in discharging their duties in order to have sound financial records and to curb corruption.
He urged auditors to ensure effective internal control system of every ministry, boards and parastatals.
He pointed out that the commission will as soon as possible swing into action, as requirements promotion and discipline of Audit staffs will be some of the duties of the board and no longer civil service commission.
In his welcome Address, the state Auditor General Alhaji Usaman Ahmed expressed gratitude to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for establishing the Audit service commission which will enable auditors perform their duties independently for smooth running of financial system based on good accounting standards.
While congratulating members of the commission for their appointment, he called on staff to perform their duties diligently and be good representatives of the commission in their various places of assignment.
Speaking separately the local Government Auditor General Alhaji Bashir ijamulu Yusuf and
Sarah Sunday Director finance and pension expressed delight over the visit and saluted the governor for his efforts in establishing the commission, saying that the commission will shape accounting system in the state for better results.
Some of the staffs who could not hide their feeling Mr Daniel Sakiyo Assistant Director Government account and Sabina James kwabe thanked the commission members for meeting with the staffs noted with the coming of the commission there promotions prompt training and re-training of staffs is assured.
