Adamawa state Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta has assured of the government’s unrelenting effort in payment of counterpart funds for the development of the state.
Speaking in her her office when she received a delegation from United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Farauta said the commitment covers all sectors.
“Government will be prompt in payment of whatever counterpart funds needed for the development of the state,” she said.
She added that the government is always busy with issues to do with development, and that with particular reference to education, the government is building additional schools, paying NECO and WAEC fees to encourage school enrolment retention and mop up out of school children.
She urged USAID to extend its capacity building training for teachers to cover all 21 LGAs of the state.
“Government thanks USAID for having interest in basic education in Adamawa state,” she said.
Earlier, Dr Nuhu Ibrahim, USAID education Team Lead, stated that the delegation was in the state to monitor how education is being moved forward and to monitor state financial management.
Ibrahim commended the state’s open door policy for harmonizing different tools in understanding education development at all levels.
He pointed out that USAID has developed school safety measure to ensure learners are protected in schools.
