Students and women numbering 500 received cash handout Saturday as birthday gift from the Organising Secretary of All Progressives Congreas (APC) in Adamawa State, Hon Mustapha Ribadu.

This was on the ocassion of the party executive marking his 45th birthday.

The APC organising scribe said the gift is a token of love for his people born of his desire to give back to society.

“Today, I am marking my 45th birthday and I am celebrating with my people. It’s not a lot of money but it will go a long way for most of them, especially considering the prevailing harsh economic reality,” he said.

Each of the beneficiaries was handed an envelope containing N20,000.

Ribadu said of the gesture and of a larger plan: “This is work in progress because we are going to be doing much more of this. We know there are bright chaps in our communities. We are going to be picking them out and giving support as they will require.

“Today, I decided to celebrate with my people especially the community of Dodore in Bako Ward in Yola South. I will soon launch a scholarship program that will cover the whole state, coming from academic background myself. I wish to live long to extend it from Bako Ward to Yola South and to the whole state.”

One of the student beneficiaries, Adam Tukur, said the cash gift would go far in reducing financial stress.

Tukur added, “We thank the APC organising secretary for this scholarship he has given us. We thank the APC family from national down to the grassroots for what they are doing as individuals and as governments to make life better for us.”
