It was widely reported last week that our own Hon. Aliyu Boya Wakili, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Police Institutions, celebrated the recruitment of over 100 new policemen from our dear state.
After the ceremony, social media was abuzz as many of our young people celebrated this milestone, recognizing the opportunity created for the youth in our state. Hon. Boya, known for his exceptional lobbying efforts both in Adamawa and at the National Assembly, goes to great lengths to secure opportunities that benefit his constituents.
However, concerns arose from some media (data boys) and political pundits, who seem unaware of his efforts. These critics, often guided by their political masters and armed only with their phone keyboards, doubted the possibility of such achievements, not realizing that a determined leader can successfully lobby and secure opportunities for his people.
Records show that among the first- and second-term members of our National Assembly at the Green Chamber, none have matched the achievements of Hon. Boya. Despite the attempts by detractors to undermine him, Hon. Boya continues to work tirelessly for his educational scholarship trust fund committee and has even payed for 1,000 JAMB forms for his constituents.
It is clear that Hon. Boya stands out among his peers in the state, and this has made him a threat to some politicians who lack tangible achievements but harbor political ambitions. They have resorted to smear campaigns through platforms like Sahara Reporters, hoping to tarnish his reputation and halt his progress.
As the youth of Adamawa State, we must not allow this. Hon. Aliyu Wakili Boya deserves commendation from the youth of Adamawa for his dedication and service.
It is time some of the political and social media critics in Adamawa State take a firm stand on supporting those who work for the people rather than attempting to destroy them. We must recognize that the recruitment of these police officers is not just about benefiting our families, but an empowerment for any young person in our state. This achievement deserves celebration, as it will help reduce unemployment and insecurity in our dear state.
To people like me, Hon. Aliyu Wakili Boya is now a political icon and a leader to reckon with. He is paving the way for the younger generation with political interests. As Adamawa youth, we must stop the attitude of tearing down our finest individuals. If we continue, we risk limiting our own opportunities in the future.
