Adamawa Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, has prayed God to raise young men to emulate the exemplary political life of late Senator, Dr Jonathan Silas Zwingina.
Speaking at his funeral service at Dishon Dansanda square, Tuesday in Guyuk, Farauta said the remembrance of life and times of the deceased calls for unity of purpose in the state and the nation.
She said, “Our prayer is that God will raise young men who would wear the shoes of the deceased to raise fearless and brave leaders from this zone.
“As a church, we need to stand with one another, as a people we have to be brother’s keeper.
“Let todays gathering be a foundation of breaking down walls for whatsoever standing in between us in whatever areas of our lives. So that as citizens, we would raise from here a strong force believing in God and ourselves to bring development in Adamawa and Nigeria.”
Farauta eulogized the late lawmaker as a true democrat and mentor that young people should look up to in their desire to join political arena.
The deceased who died at the age of 70 years, was born on August 1, 1954 at Falu, a rural community in Guyuk local government area
He was Director General MKO Abiola campaign organization Hope “93 in the presidential election of June 12, 1993.
He was elected Senator for the Adamawa South constituency at the beginning of the Nigerian Fourth Republic, running on the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) platform.
He took office on 29 May 1999 and was reelected in April 2003, again on the PDP platform.
After taking his seat in the Senate in June 1999, he was appointed to committees on Works & Housing (chairman), Establishment, Internal Affairs, Information, Special Projects, Privatization and Economic Affairs.
His contemporaries during the formation of PDP include former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Late Wilberforce Bafte Juta, Chief Joel H. Madaki, Late Solomon Lar among others.
He was appointed as a Director of Mass Mobilization for Social Justice and Economic Recover (MAMSER) in 1987 and one time Commissioners of Health and Water Resource Adamawa state
Speaker state Assembly Bathiya Wesley, former minister of Information Labaran Maku, former Secretary to the Government of Federation (SGF),Boss Mustapha attended the burial.
Other dignities include AVM Dickson Dilmon Rtd, AVM Frama Batna and former Deputy Governors of Gombe state, Dr John La’azarus Yoriyo and Jackson Ta’anda.
Senator Abubakar Mu’Allahyidi and Ahmad Barata also attended the burial
The deceased was married and is survived by seven children and seven grandchildren.
