Two persons: a nursing mother and her baby have reportedly died in a fresh boat mishap at Gamadio village in Numan local government area of Adamawa state.
Mr.Christopher Sofore, Chairman Numan local government, confirmed the incident to government delegation, led by the state Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta in Numan Monday.
Sofore said, five person was on board on the ill-fated boat when it capsized, saying three persons were rescued.
He said the two bodies were yet to be recovered as the local council and National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) are mapping out way to recover the bodies involving local divers.
The state Deputy Governor, has commiserated with the people of Gamadio over the incident.
She insisted on the use of live jackets, when people patronizes boat.
“LGAs chairmen should procured adequate life jackets and enforce it usage on the people.
“Live jackets should be made available, according to numner of commuters.”
The incident occured when the deceased were said to be crossing river Gamadio to Numan LGA
